4.0L Timing.. How to know where to set the crank when jumped time.
I understand the whole setting the camshafts on the flat spot with the lock down tool/bar. But when a car has jumped time or suspected of jumping time how do you know where to pin/lock the crankshaft to when putting the tool in where the crank sensor goes? is there any type of mark or something to go by to know the flywheel or piston is in the correct spot before putting the tool in to hold the flywheel in right spot?
The flex plate has a cut out that matches the shape of the Crankshaft Holding Tool.
Note the Crankshaft Holding Tool should not be used as a means of holding the crankshaft whilst removing the 24mm bolt on the front of the crankshaft to avoid distorting the flex plate.

See instructions on page 26 of the course for correct timing instructions. The correct camshaft timing is achieved when the crankshaft is at 45 degrees ATDC.
