Default S Type Headlight Adjuster Repair

After reading the stickys, and several posts, I haven't found the answer I'm looking for yet. I have my headlights repaired and ready to go back together. I've seem some comments about using silicone to put them back together but that seems like it would make it nearly impossible to ever get them apart again. Can I heat them back up to soften the factory adhesive and stick them back together? Maybe a small surface application of silicone to seal them? Or is that unnecessary?

I went ahead and heated them up. They went back together easily. Now the only question is whether I need to put any additional sealant around the joint or it's fine as is.

Yes, definitely do not use silicone to put those parts back together.
IF you want to buy the same "gunk" that holds the parts together: I found it on Aliexpress. It is called:

4M Car Headlamp Glue Butyl Rubber Glue Headlight Sealant Retrofit Reseal Hid Headlamps Taillight Shield Glue Waterproof Tapes

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...3fad1802MUayL8

And yes: You heat up the parts again to put them back together again. Here my writeup:

That's funny. I searched almost the exact title of your post. Maybe I didn't go back far enough. I ended up doing almost exactly what your post detailed though. I'm impatient and wanted to try to get it done today. It's just now dark here so I'm about to adjust them.
