Good result. I had similar problem with my jeep GC. The relay for the auto gearbox power supply was the final suspect after the box checked out ok. I pulled the relay apart and found corrosion on the switch contacts. A few passes with 180 paper cleaned it and the box worked perfectly for 5 years...
so far no such problems with my 99 S v8..

Well? Any updates? Have you inspected or replaced that suspect relay? Were you amazed at how right I was? Or have you become accustomed to it, and would only have been surprised if I wasn't right?
So this morning I went an swapped the R3 with the R20- the starter relay- figuring if something went wrong with it I would know very quickly.. This weekend will provide with temps around 98-99 to see if they return.
As a question, you had earlier said "look again at figure 01.7" from the attached. I went and looked and could not find anything related to "figure 01.7" What were you referring to?
Thanks
Tom

Not to be too nitpicky, but a preposition is nothing to end a sentence with...
Thanks for humoring me, but I'm not sure the starter relay is the best donor. Yes, it obviously works if the starter engages, but the contacts may have a good degree of wear due to the hard work this relay does repeatedly. I'd suggest R6 as a better donor. That's the wiper high/low relay, which hopefully doesn't see a lot of usage and is closer to new condition.
Have you considered moving to a cooler climate? Seems that would solve the problem.
The wiring diagram is a 200 page PDF. See pages 50-51 for figure 01.7:

hehe, a Star Trek-ism...
Two quick things:
1) Please let the record show I’m not the one dragging cheap jokes into the conversation.
2) Did you ever remove the covers on original relays R2 and R3 to look for evidence of arcing?

I have not removed covers as I worry I might break one without a replacement immediately available. These are black ones that do not appear to be like your yellow one. I am going to order several new ones and see what happens.
