i started to disengage the parking brake on my Jaguar S TYPE R 2004 (December Model) my parking brake was left like that disengaged for about 7 days, but now I can no longer engage it and the thing that bothers me the most is that I get the PARK BrAKE Fault in my dashboard along with the ABS light, I took the battery out from the car and charged it for 1 day and then when I put it back on the problem still persists. I noticed that my brake pedal is much easier to press now compared to back then, it’s to soft feels spongy. I did try and reset it a couple of times by removing the battery terminals for 30-60 minutes, but nothing. Still the same problem, at least I can drive it. But the awful part is that I am short on income at the moment and I can’t take it to a shop. Any idea what might had caused it? Did they seize by rusting a bit while it was disengage, i need to mention that it was really rainy the past days. Any tips anyone faced it before? The park brake atarted giving me some headaches since January because of the cold weather.

 

Is your car a 05-model year 'facelift' car that were made from January 2004, or a 04-model year car made in 2003?

You can tell but looking that the 10th digit in the VIN number 5 = 05 model year, 4 = 04 model year.

The parking brake is totally separate from the foot brake.

and yeah I looked a little into it and found out that the Park Brake is enabled by a small motor.

 

Appears to be at least 2 separate, unrelated, faults. Possibly also ABS (read its codes!), making a 3rd.

 

My bad it isn’t the ABS Warning Light, it’s the Brake Pads Warning Light that always stays on (but disappears after a battery reset) and the only thing that pops and flashes for a bit until I put the car in gear is the Park Brake, I have to hold down the switch along with the brake when I close it so it doesn’t beep like hell.

 

Your car is an 04 model year car, it would have been made in 2003.
The facelift 05 model year cars started at vin N14071, with productrion starting in January 2004 after the Christmas shutdown.

As mentioned above you have two faults. Have you looked to see if you have any fault codes? You will need a fault code reader, or the jaguar IDS software to view these.

 

To add to Mellow's comment above, you will need a code reader that is capable of handling Jaguar chassis/module codes, not a basic OBD-II unit; an example of this is the iCarsoft i930, or LR-II/2.0 .
