When i bought my 2003 (2002/5) s-type-r the previous owner mentioned that front parking sensors sometimes beep on startup, but it would always go away when i started to drive.
After couple months of driving and working on the car the sensors seemed to go dead and i was fine with that since i dont really trust or like them.
Now after some work on the front of the car the noise comes on in rain even on highway speeds. Its altering between rapid beeps and constant noise.
My question is there a way to disable the front sensors? While pulling the front bumper i noticed a multi pin connector and a single wire that seemed go directly to a metal strip on the bumper.
Just checked. The console doesn't have it.
Now either the previous owner replaiced the console for one without the button or the car doesn't have front sensors.
But i think the few times the system worked i remember it beeping for obstacles in front of the car.
Anyway is there a module or a fuse i could unplug to make it inactive?
If there are no visible sensors then you have to got any front parking sensors!
I think there was a known issue with the wiring behind the front bumper on the older cars.
I am not sure if this applied to the 2002 cars or it they had sorted it by then??
Basically the insulation on the wires can ware through where it is secured causing all sorts of strange faults, especially when it gets wet and shorts to other wires that are the same.
As I said it may not apply to the 2002 cars.
If you can not see any sensors in the front bumper then it could well be a case of water getting into the parking aid module in the boot/trunk. This is again quite a common fault.
