Parking Brake Fault

Parking Brake Fault
OK, So I have had my experiences with my jag but this is completely frustrating! As of recently every time I start my car it gives me a "Parking Break Fault" and a Yellow light. Well maybe not every time but at least 8/10. I need to restart a few times and it finally shuts off. But when its on the Parking Break is completely locked and i cant go anywhere!!! This is the newest issue. I love the car but its like a fickle girlfriend. I cant seem to ever make it happy!
Does anybody have advice or fixes? Let me know
Thanks

I feel your pain!
I have the same trouble with the 03 STR. The PB was making a louder noise for a few weeks before it quit all together, luckily the brake was in the OFF condition but followed by Park Brake Fault, yellow light ABS and BEEPING. A hard reset cured the beeping somehow, but the lights persist.
I noticed that the power would dip below 11 volts when starting so I thought a new battery would do it and bought a Evermax $95 unit at Walmart. (I know...Walmart) It was close and the battery fit perfectly, even has the offgassing port. Well it did not fix the problem.
I ordered a new PB Motor assembly from the local Jag dealer and I will pick it up today, I have my mechanic installing it at his shop tomorrow. I'm not comfortable dropping the rear differnential to replace this puppy. I hope that this fixes the problem and I dont need a module. (The module was replaced by recall in 2005)
With any luck you may just need a new battery

Well guys I still have the problem. And its drivin me effing nutz!!! Tonight my wife and I were stuck in a parking lot for 20 minutes while I tried to rectify the problem. I have found that if I apply the foot brake as I start the car sometimes it helps. Maybe this is a fluid issue? Maybe due to the hot weather? I dont know but I cant afford a new EPB motor. Hopefully someone can help. Also I tried to recalibrate the EPB by the method recommended. No luck with that either. It doesnt work at all! Need some help here!

I am way to familiar with the STR Electric Parking Brake Motor and Phd12volt even more so.
From what I have discovered on the STR, the weaklink with the EPB motor is the integral gearbox that pulls on the cable. If the motor is still alive, you could remove it and clean out the road cinders and relubricate the fibre gears. You may be able to repair it yourself for the cost of dirty hands busted knuckles and a fingerfull of grease. The STR Parking brake motor is difficult to get to, tucked up under the differential, not sure about the S...maybe it would be easier.
In the meantime just push down on the PB paddle before you remove the key and the Parking brake should stay OFF.
Good Luck

You have all been an incredible help! Thank you! My husband requested I look into online answers while he tried "his impatient methods." Car has been parked for 3 months and the brake would not release when we were taking to the shop to have the power steering pump replaced (finally saved enough for that nightmare) this week. Next on the list is the failing ECM. I do love my kitty cat.
Thanks again
