Parking Brake stuck
After having the codes removed from the ECU, the PB could be released, unfortunately it didn't take long to get stuck again. There was another fault code refering to the clutch, which - having read numerous logs on the subject - could be easily the culprit of my S-type's recurring problem. I do not know the code, but it refers to the clutch pedal switch. Can anybody tell me what the partnumber is for an S-type 2.5 V6 petrol 2005? So I can replace the current switch, and find out if it really is the cause.
In the mean time I have been busy. Changed the switch on the clutch pedal, without the expected result. More searching, and a meeting with someone whom ownes a Jag repair garage. He told me it would probably be the EPB motor, considering amongst other the fact that the problem disapeared once the error codes were reset, but got back on afte a short while (a very short while). Ordered a new EPB unit to replace the old one. Unfortunately the clutch hydrolic pressure bearing went down gurgling the weekendf before last, so I have a double repair. As ususal the clutch was not in stock at Jaguar's - i.e. for my version - or to bloody expensive elsewhere. Found one at fleabay for a third of the price, and according to a mechanic just as good as the original one ... we'll wait and see.
Now the waiting game has started for the arrival of the parts so the beast can go hunting again

I have been absent for quite a while. The clutch has been repaired, and I have driven for about half a year without a parking break. What is a manual gearbox for ...it can work as a parking brake too
All error codes were reset. Got myself the tool to read and reset them only for JLRs, but works like a dream. So back to work: It constantly cam back with a clutch error. Replace some switche on the clutch pedal for some €20 but didn't solve the issue. Back to the net. A replacement ECU for the EPB and Cruise Control (yes, that didn't work either since all cables on the ECU had to be uncoupled). I was vehemently assured it was the proper ECU, for a manual transmission. No it wasn't. But until we figured that out, we were in the dark.
Back to the old ECU and checking sparks. Well, my garage man did. Bingo! the signal from the main clutch servo didn't give it's 3v signal. A new, correct ECU was required. Until that one arrivd we put in the one for the automatic transmission, it only needed some small additional action: press the pedal down, and I could unlock the EPB. The only downside ... I still had the notice of the Defective EPB on the dash, but who cares whn all works ... Once the new ECU was connected .. sunshine all over.
Check your currents first, before swapping your EPB. I have squandered some € 750 on a new EPB including labour, whilst the old one still was good.
