Performance Catalytic converters and x pipe
Wow... that is some pretty poor welding! There is a gap where the spliced in section joins the exhaust pipe on the downstream side of the converter.
What a bodge job that is! Given the mis-match is diameters and sloppy welding, a re-do certainly seems a reasonable approach. You might want to contact "frankc" over on the British Jaguar forum and see what brand of 40 cell cats he had installed on his XK-R.

want to get new o2 sensors too. Im getting lean codes and hear the exhaust ticking so im pretty sure theres a leak
Totally boogered. Im not a great welder but I can do better than that! I decided upon this: MagnaFlow 59975 Universal Catalytic Converter (Non CARB Compliant) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XQM3O2..._xdTGDbRMXP4HM

i went with those cats ,
beware they only last around 1 year 15000km on a STR ,even with neer perfect AFR and fuel trims they melt.
I’ve now had two sets of them and melted both ,
i ended up gutting them and sleeving them , for reliability,
magnaflow Actually has a Bolt ON SET for the STR
NOW ,
maybe that might be better
Correct you have to drill and fit your own threaded bosses ,

This was 200cel magnaflow in less than 7500 miles
I have to agree the welding and especially the mismatch in diameter is horrible. Might actually be loosing power with that bottle neck

Dammit. They are being delivered today. Maybe I should just return em and get a stock set of cat pipe from davico or pacesetter (any suggestions on whats best?
I had a set of hi flow cats on my challenger and they lasted quite some time 4 years until I traded it). I wonder what they used. But those cats were after long tube headers. So they were further back from the heads
So the cats came in yesterday. Ya. Im returning them. They are the smallest cats ive ever seen! Maybe 7” long body? Thats tiny! No way im gonna use these. They look like theyre for a motorcycle

Thats what I have had for the last 7,000 miles.
Initially used the "mini cat inserts" to hold O2 sensors but they caused big smoking problems under acceleration so just put O2 sensors directly in place of mini cats with no issues at all.

Im confused why they pics of the failed units look like something collapsed the interior parts..... it looks like something mushed the plates over. These cats have a 3 year warranty I believe. For the ones that failed, Did you try to get them warrantied?
