Default Phone Cable?

I have what looks like a phone cable, the end you plug in to a landline phone, hanging down from behind my mirror. What could this have been used for?

Landline phones use a RJ-11 jack. I'm unaware of ANY vehicle that would use that type of connector. I've seen an older Radar detector use something LIKE that for a remote sensor.

In either case, a RJ-11 wouldn't be a factory connector/cable. Yours may LOOK like one, which would require a picture. I've had other vehicles that had compass/auto-dimming rear view mirrors, and they had flat 8-pin connectors. These plugged into the mirror itself, and if NOT plugged in, the cable and connector would dangle behind the mirror.

I have fitted a few of these and normally that is the position I route it to aswell !

+1, Datsports! I thought it was either Escort, Passport or a Valentine detector. Been a long time since I've seen that setup. Not surprised it was left behind, considering what a pain in the a$$ it was to install. Radar detector technology has leapfrogged since this was wired.

um yes although the radar tech as come a long way the power plug remains the same infact many others are switching to it ! and the latest greatest radar detector on the market is the brand new escort 360 degree max 2 and it also uses this same hard wire kit , there is also the option of running the smart cordpro bluetooth with an app! witch i have and use daily , i also have that hard wire kit on both bikes and 3 of my cars aswell . so any way this hard wire kit will run ,
the escort 8500, 9500i & ix , max pro , max & max 2,and
all the belltronics range witch is actually escort any ways!
also the latest valentine has swiched to this plug
i love the 9500ix gps , so quiet it learns false alarms and shuts them out after 3 passes , best tech ever! get one!!
