Default A phone module or what?

This is described as a module by the driver seat belt for Jaguar-fitted phone. But what is it? It has no Jaguar (or Ford) legend or part numbers, but does say Motorola.

It has a black 3-way connector, the lead has red, black & gray wires and a 14-way (7x2) connector with a gray metal blanking plug.

Get some closer pictures. Is that for sale in the UK or is it yours? It looks different than the phone module used in the US cars that I've seen. Almost looks like an older module from an XJ. I know Motorola made the modules for Jaguar globally. Also, the phone standards and devices change from region to region. I have the pdf's for installing the phone. Wow, I have the PDF here at work. I've attached it. The phone module actually installs in the boot in the same area as the CD changer and Navigation drive.

I'll have a go.

I wonder if it's the module shown as A in that PDF. I can't understand where it's saying to fit it, though!

It was a bargain (*) from a wrecker.

(*) something I didn't need at a price I could afford

A in the picture in the PDF is the Bluetooth module that goes in the center console.

here is a picture of one I just grabbed off a US E-bay listing for one..LOL what are the odds??

The module you picture looks something like the module included in this phone kit for a 1998-2000 XJ. Again, I stole this picture from an E-bay listing for the phone kit...

Here is a picture of another phone module that the seller says is for an XK8.

Thanks. The multipart kit looks like the older XJ (X308).

Here's a pic of the label on mine (the other side is plain but has a sticky pad which again makes me think it might be item A):

That's your Bluetooth Module alright. The gray thing is the shorting bar, used if you do not have JaguarVoice installed, too.

Here's the install guide.

Cheers,

Thanks!

It's apparently from a 2002 car (over here, so I reckon equivalent of 2003 there).

Looks like the install guide didn't change much at all since the 03 version that I have.

Yup, now that I see the pigtail coming off it, I agree that you have the bluetooth module. Now all you need is a microphone and Phone Module and you've got integrated phone.... Unless you have that already, then you probably can hook that up and have bluetooth, If your module is compatible.

I have a phone & module but haven't yet checked its rev level - though it doesn't matter as I don't actually want bluetooth. Just slightly disappointed it's the BT module rather than the phone one I hoped and it sort of was advertised as (the ad was unclear, really, and besides I reckon the seller didn't know exactly what it was).

That guide is for your UK phones, the US part is a little different. For instance the shorting bar is not something we have to deal with, at least not that one. We have to use a shorting connector in the harnessing back in the boot for our cars that have a phone and no voice.

Just what is it you are trying to do, what sort of phone do you want to fit?? Are you wanting to use a GSM phone with a corded handset??
