Default Was Piano Black Wood Ever available in the S-Type?

So I was bored and looking around on Ebay - I've been lightly toying around with the idea of getting an STR, and I found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPER...item1c168c011c

The car looks ok, the wheels make me want to puke, although I think I'm going to have a HELL of a time finding a NON-NAV one, even though that Is what I really want.. (I want to do aftermarket audio in it). But what struck me is the piano black wood.

Was this factory or did the previous owner have this done?

George

George,

To the best of my knowledge it was done by the owner. STRs had a dark stained woodwork which looked grayish but the grain showed.

If you can't find a non nav str that's ok, I almost took out my nav and fitted the XJ climate module and radio

Ive heard of people taking their trim to a body shop to get it painted. Not something I would do, but it would give it a different look.

Yup..that was painted...All US cars had wood except.........

The super rare non-wood trim is the Aluminum Trim package... It was more common in Euro spec cars but was available here in the US.

User Delta66 has it in his S Type...

I looked at a silver one with the aluminum trim and two tone interior and I thought it was stunning that way. But the aluminum has quite a few scratches and they really do show/collect dirt. I even looked at replacing the wood with this but it was just too damn expensive. If the aluminum had a clear, hard, smooth finish over it I think it would hold up a lot better.

I'm doing that in my 500sl right now The wood has seen better days, and people are getting over $200 for wood in not much better shape than mine.
