Default Possible to bypass and UNWIND an EPB cable

Strange problem with my EPB on my brembo equipped 2003 s type r.

I disabled the EPB, proceeded to do my rear brakes. Some unwelcome individual is nosing around the STR as I've completely disassembled the right rear corner.

This individual proceeds to pull up on the EPB paddle, and despite keys out and ign off, the EPB engages!

Long story short, my right rear EPB cable is pulled ALL the way in. I can't even slip it onto the calipers linkage. I need the EPB module to UNWIND the right rear corner first, and then proceed to a EPB calibration. At the moment, I have tried an EPB calibration, and it only wants to wind up MORE. It refuses to UNWIND no matter how much i try and repeatedly release the hand brake.

Where is the EPB module? Can someone possibly provide a pin out of its harness? If I could send a sustained 12v release-polarity to the motor to unwind just a little, I could hook it up to the caliper linkage, connect my battery and proceed EPB calibration properly from the beginning.

Any advice is appreciated guys!

So, i first disabled the EPB by disengaging it trick.

I then pulled on the cable using a tool, and got the extra bit of cable unwinded I need... hope I didnt break anything, because Ive got an EPB fault again, so I'm going to try another reset and calibration.

There's a thread somwhere about powering the EPB motor separately from the module, which is what I think you actually need to do.

Module is behind panel in boot (trunk) above the battery. The thick cables are the ones to the motor. As it's DC I expect one way is wind & the other unwind.

As an informational update; Following EPB disabling, I was able to pull some slack out from the EPB motor on the right rear side.

Applying a small C-clamp to the EPB caliper linkage, gave me the necessary leverage to crank the EPB linkage tight, and slip the EPB cable end right over it.

After another battery disconnect and system reset, I performed one last EPB calibration, and it's been working EPB Fault free ever since, and EPB holds the car GREAT!

Very pleased I got this sorted, STR now on the road with majority of its issues sorted. Really enjoying this car now! Will need to take some photos and introduce my STR to the forums soon!

Phew!

Your car has an unusual colour (*) so I expect pics would be appreciated.

(*) not one I recall - usually the green is JRG (Jaguar Racing Green)

There's a label with the paint and (main) trim codes on it if you fancy posting those. I think by a front door hinge, might be either side (bearing in mind where I am LOL)

You can get very detailed car info by emailing Jaguar Corp nicely - seems to work with franchises (dealers), too, if you ask nicely.

Aspen Green Mica (aka aspen green metallic) is HGP.

The color is 90% of the reason I bought this particular STR, very very uncommon on STR's, and S-type's in general for that matter..

Goes from green to blue depending on sunlight angle, love it!
