Default problem

Hi,
I am having a problem with my Jaguar S-Type, 4L, V8, 2000m.
The engine normally starts and run very well but after a long distance it will look as if the fuel is cutting off and it will soundly stop.
Can anybody tell me if the FUEL PUMP is bad and needs to be changed? Or is it any other thing else?
Thanks,
John
