Default Problem with front passenger window

Hi guys,

I got a huuuiuuge problem. So tonight I got out with my gf and while being stuck in the traffic jam my gf rolled down her window. When trying to get it back up it got stuck and wouldn't go. So I had bring it up myself and block it somehow with a piece of paper so it wouldn't go down. Now the thing is a buddy of mine has got the same s-type 3.0 only that mine's from '02 and his is like from the first ones that came out so I'd say '98-'99. He had the same problem BUT in his case you couldn't hear the motor working no more so he had to change the regulator. But in my case you can hear it but it makes some weird "tac tac tac" noise. You can hear when you try either to roll the window down or up. Do you guys think it's the regulator too? I mean do you think I gotta replace it?

Funny thing is that it started making that sound before this happened but the window worked just fine so I didn't give it much thought, I guessed it was maybe because of the cold weather or something, well also because the car's pretty old too.
I was pretty happy cause my jag is in a marvelous condition and I hoped I'll never have this kinda problem with it. I guess I was wrong :/

Please do some reading. Very Common. Window regulators are about a 45 minute job to change. You can get them almost anywhere. Parts store, Amazon, Ford or Jaguar dealer.

Lightbulb Easy Job

I have a 2000 S-Type, had the same exact problem over the summer! Simply google, or search here for 'jaguar window regulator replacment' there is a lot of information/step by step instructions.

I ordered my regulator from E-Bay, paid about $80.00, took about 30-40 minutes to do the work. First one I've done, pretty simple job really!

If you have tinted windows, be careful not to scratch the tint durring removal/installation. I put a scratch in mine, and they were just tinted about a month prior! I learned the hard way.......

Best of luck,

If you purchase one from eBay that is designed for the Lincoln LS, one or more of the mounting holes on the inner door skin will need to be elongated to allow the window regulator to be seated correctly. If this is the course taken, be certain to apply paint to the hole to prevent future corrosion.

The one that I ordered was a perfect fit, no modifications needed! It works just fine, maybe I paid less than $80.00 as I found the same one from the same seller for $50.00.

This is a direct link to to the regulator on E-Bay, same one I purchaed and installed.

If you were fortunate enough to find one that fit, that is fantastic! My experience with other eBay sellers is as I stated above.

Common problem. Had to replace one on my old jag! The rear one didn't work either but wasn't fussed with changing that one

The rear window regulator is a little different than the front.

Hi again, sorry for the late reply, for some reason I couldn't log-in on the forum, there was some connection error or something. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help, I just ordered one from ebay. I gotta admit I'm kinda scared to take down the door panel but I think it's easier to do it myself than to pay 800 bucks at the jag dealer (yep not kidding, I asked them an they said it would cost bout 800 bucks )
Thanks a lot )
I'll let you know if I was successful or not with the "operation" hahaha
