I have read that the S type take a "special battery". Does anybody have a part number, manufacture, or brand? I'm willing to be spendy, however, I want to be sure I'm getting exactly what I need.

It doesn't. Any/all cars parts stores will have a suitable battery available.

 

Group 49, MB88, H8, are all the battery designations you need to look at. They are all the same battery.

The S-Type in the TSB list uses the same battery as your car.
