Default Question about plastic screw on Supercharger pulley

Hey guys I got the 1.7lb pulley installed on my sTR, but my question is it important to have that plastic screw in the middle of the pulley put back on? My mechanic didn't know it was a screw on type until he yanked it half way out and realized it was screw on. I called up Nalley Jaguar to see if I can get one, but they don't sell those screws for the pulley. He told me it was mostly for cosmetic and to keep dirt out. But can anyone lend some advice if its necessary to have it on, if so I'll just grab a M8 125 size half inch screw to close it.

Thanks in advance. Ohhh by the way, that pulley from Minagallery sure made a huge difference

Sorry I can't help but wanted to ask where you found the 1.7 lb pulley? I have heard of 1.5 and 3 lb before.

..hey sorry I should have been more specific the minagallery 1.5lbs is now updated to the 1.7lbs-1.75lbs SC Pulley; bench tested by them. Please ask Chris from MinaGallery to explain more in detail what exactly they did to change up the new modified SC pulley.

For the SC pulley install, Coolant expansion tank replacement, new thermostat install, and new DCCV install I paid $350 just for labor minus the parts I supplied them with. If I was just going to get the Pulley done the shop was going to charge $250. The shop I took it to; they only work on Jags nothing else. Been taking my STR to them ever since I bought her for major repairs only. The small stuff I"ll do it on my own. I highly recommend having a professional shop do the pulley upgrade. I almost had a heart attack when the mechanic was cutting chunks off the OEM pulley to get it off,its a Pain the ***! I seriously thought the shaft on my SC would be cut off, but at the end it was just a few hairline scratches on it when it came off finally. Getting it on is really easy. Good Luck. You seriously won't be disappointed once you get the upgraded pulley

That's a pretty fair price for all of that work!

He was right, its just to keep dirt out of there, its cosmetic and serves no purpose other than keeping the threads clean inside the shaft. I wouldn't worry at all if its not in there.

Thanks for the verification (I'll leave it as it is). I was worrying if I didn't plug it up somehow I'll end up with rust/dirt in the threads, but then again when am I going to change the pulley again . 1.7lbs is more than enough for me; don't see doing the 3lb pulley upgrade anytime soon or ever.

Cheers

After doing a DIY on the 3 lb. pulley, I am definitely not changing the pulley ever again. If I need anything done with the pulley or if I were to do it all over again, I would pull the whole supercharger off and send it out. To say it was a nightmare and a hassle is an understatement.

You could squirt some oil into the recess, then pack it with some silicone. The oil will act to keep it from adhering and the silicone cures into a custom fit plug that you can still dig out later on.
