Looks like an Aston Martin from the rear at 5 miles away.

What a bizarrely minute number of similarities some people judge a car by! Hey and a lot have 4 wheels, too...

>I enjoy winding up one of the locals here with an XJ when I ask him how his Crown Vic is doing.

Oooo, that's gonna leave a stain...

You only have to do a search on this very forum to see a post by one of our very esteemed members listing many of the Ford components that are/were interchangable with our S-Types. Even the DCCV I recently installed on my '03 is Motorcraft. So please don't tell me there are no similarities to the Taurus/Fords of the day. Maybe that changed as our cars evolved, but back in the early days of the S-Type, it would make sense that parent company Ford would share mechanical components among its similar lines.

BTW - my mechanic is one of the nicest human beings on the face of this planet and is far from "Average" as mechanics go. I spent many years searching for one of his caliber. Nor would he ever want to "get under the skin of an uninformed owner." That's just an asinine statement. At this point I will exit this discussion altogether.

Ford components, yes; Taurus-specific components no.

I don't think the Taurus even uses the same DCCV. Honestly, there are Fords that are far closer to the S-Type than the rather unalike Taurus. May as well say the S-Type is like a Ford Galaxy. Well, it isn't by any normal definition and it's not like a Taurus either and only a very ignorant mechanic would say otherwise (and there are plenty of them).
