Default Quick shudder in steering wheel when shifting into drive

Tried to search for some answers but couldn't locate any.

Occasionally when shifting into drive from reverse I get a quick strong shudder in the steering wheel. I noticed it happens more often when I'm making a hard turn while going into drive (so as pulling out of a parking space). What could be the cause?

I wonder if the PS fluid additive would help?

Rick, it's in there already. Did a good job of eliminating the annoying little squeak.

I asked about steering wheel shudder a couple of weeks ago when I went in for some warranty work. The service manager says they all do it because of the bigger tires. Mine does it at low speeds or when parked sometimes.

The pump/rack combo isn't powerful enough for the footprint and weight of the car. I had the additive put in as well and my noise is reduced but not gone yet.

BTW, they charged me for the additive even though I have the warranty. No big deal just kind of weird. I wonder if the additive isn't an official approved fix? If not then what is?

Sounds like service manager malarkey to me, Staatsof. I wonder if that would be the case if you WERENT warrantied. This is a new deal that just started about a month ago in my car.

Then it's a corporate wide conspiracy, ahem policy I mean. I get the same response from everyone including their national service training director. Mine's not terribly intrusive. I don't think there is a fix. Perhaps your situation is different though. Mine isn't related to shifting such as you describe.
