Radio configuration problems
Hi, do you guys know why it skips radio stations? I think I touched something I shouldn’t have. Jaguar s-type 2004. Also, can I connect my phone via Bluetooth or do I need an accesory?
I've moved your question from General Tech Help to S-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.
Specifically regarding the phone. Very few original buyers chose to add the extremely expensive Motorola handset and even less opted for Jaguar Bluetooth. Most Jaguars of that era have the microphone and phone buttons but not the equipment to use them so you need to be certain of the original vehicle specifications and any subsequent changes made by previous owners.

In regard to your phone you will need to make sure you have the bluetooth module in the boot/trunk and the BUTM unit in the center glove box. This was an expensive option when the cars were new and many did not have it fitted. (All have the phone button.)
That said the original S-type system is not that good as it is based on the Motorolla wired phone system, it only lets one phone to be paired for example and does not work with all the later phones, including some i-phones. The later 2008 X-type and XJ version that is based on the Ford bluetooth system is better as it does work with all the later phones and you can pair several phones to the car as well.
However with either of these you will only ever be able to use bluetooth with phone calls, it will not work with text and it will not work with music.
If your car does not have voice control you will also need to fit a mic and you will need a briging connector in the voice control module electrical connector in the trunk.
All the S-types are pre-wired for all the audio modules to be fitted in the boot/trunk, that is apart from the d2b fiber optic lead, but if it is an 04 model year made in 2003 before the 05 model year facelift then you will also need to use the jaguar IDS software to activate the system. If it is an 05 model year 'facelift' car (made from January 2004 or newer they should be pre-activated and just plug an go.
I am not sure if you can change or even check the regional setting on an S-type radio with no Navigation screen. Again I think you will need to use the Jaguar software. (IDS up to 04model year SDD from 05 model year onwards.)
If you are unsure what model year your car is look at the 10th digit in your vin number 4= 04 model year. 5=05 model year.
Going forward it would be helpful to put your partial vin number from digit 10 to 15 in your group signature. See the first line in my one below for an example.
