Rear defrost button stuck "on"
Hey y'all!!
so... I noticed early after purchasing my '03 STR that when I activated the defrost feature, it would enable the rear defrost as well. fine. but when I would switch the ac back to "AUTO", the rear defrost indicator light on the dash button would remain illuminated for several minutes more. Pushing it again would not turn it off. But eventually it would go off. Until recently. Now it is just constantly illuminated, even after cycling the key.
Is this common? I'm not finding anything about it with a search.
waddya'll know?

local temps are wellllll below freezing, so I'm sure this has something to do with it.
however, turned off the climate control, and the button illuminated again the moment I turned back on the climate control.

And the thickness of your wallet so the ECM would know what to blow up next.

My house has approximately 16" of new snow in the last 48 hours, leaving me with 24" of actual snow-depth in my yard. Makes it tough to drive the STR.
But hey..... at least I can see the sun! I spent 3 years or so living in France, and there was a time I didn't see the sun for 4 months! It was so depressing! (of course, this apparently isn't uncommon in the Nord, Pas-de-Calais? )
Only our SuperMod Richard is daft enough to live that far north.
Gorgeous blue skies today, 4°C outside.
My geography really needs a reset - why is it so cold there ? Are you up in the sky?
We're at 500M here.

For reference, I'm much further north than most members here and it's 11*C today.
Bluetooth - ECM simply deducts whatever it thinks is needed to ensure a start (mileage afterwards extra) via your Android.
The major metropolitan areas of Utah are all in what we refer to as the "Wasatch Front". This is so-named because the urbanization has sprawled through a valley created by a majestic mountain range called, naturally, the Wasatch Mountains. This valley bottom's-out at near 3700' (1125m), where you find the Great Salt Lake, which is the remnant of ancient "Lake Bonneville", which once covered the entire state and much of the surrounding states as well. (it is still quite common for my kids and I to find ancient seashells in the mountains) The Wasatch mountains reach as high as 13,000' (4000m) and residential developments are routinely constructed up to 7000' (2100m) or so.
Because we are in a valley, one of the meteorological oddities that occurs is what we call an inversion. I'm no meteorologist, but as I understand it, the pressure differential created by cold air on top and warm air underneath does not create enough wind to get over the mountains, and the two "flop". they reverse position, leaving the cold air low, and the warm air higher. Air quality quickly becomes a concern when this is occurring, as there really is NO WIND to clear pollutants out.
I'm relatively low, in the valley, at about 4000' (1200m). But this week we got hit with a "Lake Effect" snow storm, resulting in the valley floor getting pounded, rather than the benches.

Thanks, very interesting and apologies for post hijack.
I'm familiar with the 'cold air slides down the hill' thing - BTW now your cover is blown you might as well put UT in your location - it can help.

hmm.... continuing the thread hijack (it IS my own thread, after all )
Thought you'd get a kick out of the temp on my commute this morning:

It's been chaos in PHX this week, four consecutive days around 30F in the mornings, yo would think the world was going to end!
Apparently all the pesky cold Canadian air has slid down here.
