Default Rear Discs

I recently had success with fitting brake calipers from a Ford Mondeo to my 2001 S-Type 4.0, but does anyone know of a Ford (Australia) compatible disc as mine (rear) are to thin to machine?

The correct rotors are available at any car parts store.

Thanks again - but as soon as you mention "Jaguar" down here the part price doubles (at least), but as many Ford / Lincoln parts are compatible I try to source those as a much cheaper option.

Just for fun, have you actually asked for prices and compared them to a 'mainstream car'?

You might be surprised.

Mikey - Yes I have, where the most recent was the water pump that was quoted at AD$260 and I got an identical Ford part for AUD$131.

Check the Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln LS parts catalogs as some of their parts are interchangeable with the 2001 S-type.

But you can easily find the original Jag part number in JEPC, then go to an online retailer like RockAuto.com, AutoPartsWay.com, PartsGeek.com, etc and do a search on their website by the Jag part number. That will crossreference to the list of aftermarket brands/part# that they sell that are compatible with your car. They may not ship to Australia, but you will see that there is no special pricing because the part is compatible with a Jaguar. If you want to buy the parts locally, use the brand-name and part number info you got online as your starting point.

I looked at several OZ-based on-line car part vendors and found that the correct rotors were not more expensive than other cars, just like it is here or in the US.

Whale , FYI

Unless you want OEM parts , you can buy after market rotors to suit your Jag ( 288 mm )
for around 70.00 dollars each , in Sydney .

Ford Mondeo 95 on rotors are 253 mm and from 09 on 302 mm in diameter ( Aus ).

The rear calipers are the same as they are the BOSCH brand calipers and the rear pads are also the same .

It sure did, the "R" is a supercharged version of the 4.2L V8 (the "STR").
