Rear Parking sensor problem on S type
Hi - I am a new (but old) member and this is my 1st post. I have had my S type 3 litre Jag (manufactured in 2003) for 3 years and suddenly the rear parking sensor alarm has come on and stays on when I go into reverse. The outside of the sensors look clean. Is this likely to be a faulty sensor or a faulty control module and can I check which it is. Also can I disable the alarm in the meantime as it is driving me nuts when reversing.

Many thanks bfsgross I have found a module above the cd changer which I assume is the for the sensors. Will it make sense if I unplug the sensors one at a time to see if the audible alarm goes off?
Contrary to my earlier response I am now not sure that the module above the cd changer is in fact the distance sensor module. Is it behind the plastic cover at the rear of the boot?

Nothing in the spare tyre well apart from battery and main fuse box nor on the wall that holds the bumper cover, so can only assume the module I mentioned in my first post (in the cupboard that holds the cd changer) is the one for the distance sensor. Unfortunately I will have to remove the boot lining to get at it. I will have a look Sunday morning.
Thanks JV8.
Have again looked in boot and spare wheel well but no sign of it.
Have attached photo of boot & well and also photos of right and left side of boot behind lining. Does anything in there look the module?

I don't know why but there is no module where it should be? It should be on the left hand wall of the spare tire well.
See you picture labeled below.

See that white plug tied up by the red arrow? That plugs into the module.
What's taped and wrapped up on the back wall by the lug wrench? Does not look stock??

I have come to the conclusion that the parking sensor system is an afterfit but have not yet found where the module is situated. I think it is probably behind the lining on the rear LHS of the boot with its own speaker located under the back ledge behind rear seats (there are a couple of wires going up there from LHS of boot wall).
Have listened to sensors on bumper and cannot hear sound from the one on near side. Problem is if it is in an afterfit system it may is not a Jaguar part. So what do I relace it with - that is the $90 question.
I might have to resort to disconnecting the speaker and doing without the sensors.
Would appreciate any advice.

If you can find the fuse for it, try pulling it instead of disconnecting speakers. That way you'll actually shut the damned thing off so it doesn't continue to draw power as it might if you've only disconnected the speaker.
