Rear seat release cable.
Just got a 2006 S Type as a reserve car. Naturally there are a few small issues to fix, which I am happy to undertake. However, I find that the right rear seat release cable is missing. There is just a small hole in the trunk trim where it should be. I have located a replacement on eBay, but not sure how to release the right rear seat to get at the latch. Has anyone had this problem?
First make sure that the release is not hiding behind me felt trim in the trunk. It might have fallen off back there . If you need to see how the latch works it should be the same as the other seat section which you appear to be able to fall forward. Maybe you can release it with a stiff wire properly placed .
I have removed all the trunk trim and now all I see is a hole in the steel bulkhead behind the trim. Peering through the hole I see nothing but another steel panel, so the cable must snake around a bit. Somehow I have to release the seat to get at the seat clamp and the other end. Anyone know if this is possible?
