Dear fellow Jaguar enthousiasts and wise friends of the forum,
Last week I took my beloved S-type to the APK (the Dutch version of the MOT or TÜV) and unfortunately it didn't pass. They noticed too much rust on the 'rear subframe' and therefore the car didn't pass the annual road test. My car is a 2003 S-type (facelift) 3.0 V6 with VIN M62564.
Today I took the S-type off the ground and went to check for myself. I quickly found out that the subframe is in okay condition and was in fact not the problem. The problem was in fact the mounting points of the rear subframe that belong to the body. The rust has perforated the metal and holes have formed. My plan is to have it properly fixed by having a professional do some welding. I was checking SNG Barratt in the hopes of finding some metal panels that are still produced new in order to hopefully reduce the costs. Possibly I could check my local scrapyard and maybe cut away some useful metal to reuse in my own S-type??
For now I've found these items, but I cannot quite figure out if these panels are even close as to what I need.

XR825790: module mounting bracket LH rear quarter (Nr9)
XR847886: bracket mounting https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#...assembly/31057
Here are some pictures of the rust on my beloved Jag. Right side rear quarter showing forward of the forward rear-subframe mounting points. Left side rear quarter showing forward of the forward rear-subframe mounting points. Rust on the right side on the forward mounting point of the rear-subframe mounting bracket. Same as previous picture, but this is the left side.
I wonder if any one that has encountered this in the past could tell me their experience, or possibly give me some advice on what the best way to approach this problem is. Would it be better to let someone make some panels that will fit the car? Would it be better to cut metal from a donor car? Or would it be possible to order body panels and have them weld the new panels in?
As my S-type is my first car ever, bought almost 8 years ago when I was still 18, I am not planning on having her scrapped any time soon. In fact, I am planning on never selling my S-type. It has grown a special place in my heart. :-)
Take the vehicle to a shop that specialises in restorations as the parts must be cut out and new pieces fabricated. The suspension parts should also be replaced as they appear to contain lots of rot as well.
