Removing transmission
I am attempting to remove a transmission from a parts car.
I have removed the bolts that secure the tranny to the engine. Removed the drive shaft as well.
I have two jacks underneath the transmission to ensure it would not fall and damage, though it appears to be stuck.
I have attempted (quite delacatly) to use a screw driver and hammer to dislodge the transmission from the engine.
Any tips?
I have not taken off the starter as this looks like shear hell... Do I need to?

1) Are you sure you have ALL the bellhousing bolts out?
2) Is the engine supported?
3) if all of the above is done, according to alldatadiy it should slide out.
Becareful of the torque converter not falling on you.

Thank you!
I have removed the starter now, and attempting to remove the torque converter.
From my understanding, there are 4 bolts, in which to access the 4 bolts for removal, I must turn the engine.
I have attempted to turn via the crank case pulley, and drive shaft, to no avail.
The parts car had engine problems in that the engine ran out of oil, and is seized as per the previous owner. My attempts to roll over seem to confirm.
Any suggestions or corrections to my methods?

Apparently the torque converter need not be removed.
I was given a tip from a ford mechanic stating that these tranny's sometimes stick at the top - 10 & 2
There is some sort of balancing screw or...
Anyways
Good news: it is removed
Bad news: I cracked a chunk of the tranny while using a hammer.
Junk or can I somehow fix?
Now I know why I am not a mechanic.

I had a bell housing fixed.
It was on a 1984 Trans Am, 5 speed. I blew the clutch disk apart and shattered the "bell housing" the welders fixed that.
Not very expensive.

We're fine, thankfully. I thought like t-bird, and cursed beyond belief.
Yes - I might not be an expert, but this is how one learns.
I have put 90k miles on my girl, and she has tolerated me well.

If you have a V6 (i didn't look up specs or anything for u) there is one neatly placed bolt in a depression in the bellhousing on the drivers side. The other part (and what i think might be why it was stuck on) is the fact that the dowels that lines it all up were steel and the engine block and trans case are aluminum. corrosion set in on those cars the day it drove off the lot. We mangled many, many, transmissions getting them out. Even the newer ZF 6spd boxes do the same. As far as the TC, if the engine doesn't spin, then the only way I know of getting them out is by removing the engine and crankshaft. V6 engines had four nuts or bolts, V8 engines had 8 nuts.
Where did you break it?
