Repairing circuit board on the climate control module
I replaced the DCCV and now I have hot air while the ac is on. I pulled the climate control module apart and found a couple burnt spots on the circuit board. I have read of some people soldering a jumper wire across the burn spot, but it seems to cause problems when doing this? How are these repair services on ebay repairing the circuit boards? Is this something I can do myself?
There are issues with the wiring that can rub and cause a DCCV fault. This has to do with wiring that goes behind the front bumper.
It might also be worth checking the sensors inside the car. It is possible to clean the one in the small vent near the steering wheel. The others (I think from memory there are 3) at each side of the footwells and centre console are replaceable. If you search there are discussions on these issues as many others have had similar problems.
An auto electrician can put you in touch with a CCM repairer.

I found a repair service on ebay. Here is the link: 2005 Jaguar Climate Control Repair Service Heater AC Head s Type s Type 05 Stype | eBay
Has anyone ever done business with this person? I called and he seems legit to me.

Hi,
I had the same issue and did the repair on the climate control module myself.
See https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...t-fault-94932/
Basically, I opened up the climate control module, found the burned trace (pretty obvious), soldered a wire to replace the trace and put a 2A glass fuse on the wire. The fuse should blow if the DCCV fails again (producing an overcurrent).
Hope this helps. Worked for me and saved on the expense & shipping expense of having it sent to the USA to be repaired.

If it's just a burned trace, then yes, install a jumper, using a 25 or 30 watt soldering iron. Do NOT run a jumper that may bypass a component (like a transistor or other "active" component), as you'll do even more damage to the module. Use an x-acto knife to gently scrape the coating until you get to bare metal on the trace.
Getting a used donor is a good plan B....as long as the replacement doesn't have the same problem. Murphy's Law has yet to be repealed. Take your time, and don't use a pound of solder. You'll do well.
And that inline fuse is a great idea!!!

I had full heat coming from all vents, both sides, no matter what temperature I selected. That pointed to the DCCV having failed. I'm not sure if heat from one side necessarily points to the DCCV having failed -probably not(?)... Maybe it is an in-cabin temperature sensor? Don't really know....
If you do send it off for repair make sure they install circuit protection to prevent this from happening again.
If you read how this repair was figured out it looks like the climate control module was not designed properly as all of these expensive modules can and should be protected at the module level too.
Now this place of course wants you to send it to them for repair. I think their warning about the wire jumper is BS because we have had a number of guys fix it this way with no problems. But they are correct the jumper repair does not fix the real underlying problem.
If you have not read this is explains things pretty well.

If you have full heat both sides it could be the fuse that supplies the 12 volts via the yellow wire to the dccv. If the valve has no 12v on it's middle pin it can't switch off either side and the hot water flows = full heat. Sorry, can't remember the fuse number.

I ended up replacing the heater valve and had the two burnt traces on the board fixed. The ac and heat worked great for about 2 months. About two days ago I turned the AC on and all I got was HOT air. I took the circuit board to an electronics shop, they said there were no burnt traces, but believed there is a burnt component on the board. The guy said there was no continuity on one of the diodes in the circuit. I have ordered a used climate control from the salvage; it should be in early next week.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Kelby
