I was in Pep Boys this morning to take advantage of their Castrol GTX 5W-30 oil with Purolator oil filter sale running this week. Checked out potential replacement batteries for the S-Type while I was there. They sell a Bosch vented battery for $99.99. Same design as our OEM battery with the six-cell removable caps so you can check and add water as needed. The part number is 49-850B with 3 years free replacement and a 96-month pro-rated warranty. This is the lowest S-Type replacement battery price I've seen. Never had a Bosch battery before, but we have a number of Bosch components and appliances that we've been very happy with over the years....

 

Sounds like a decent price. The cost of a replacement battery was my first experience that everything costs more for a Jaguar. Shortly after purchasing my S-Type used I had to replace the battery. I was shocked at what the dealer wanted for a new battery!

 

Thanks for the info, I've been looking into the cost of a new battery. I occasionally have issues with cold starts after the car has been running and it sits for awhile. It could be the crank sensor but I'm thinking a new battery wouldn't hurt at this point in time.

Bosch definitely makes quality products...
