Default restricted performance after heavy rain

A week ago my Jag was parked outside during a heavy summer storm. In the morning I fired it up- it started normally withut any problems whatsoever. A few minutes after that I got the restricted performance message and a yellow engine warning light. The car was working fine and after a few miles all went away. Since then no messages have reappeared. I guess some water might have entered in the areas around the coils. Should I be worried? It is the first time that I get this kind of a warning. The car is a 2006 v6.

Should be sealed so I guess the sealing has failed but why not read the codes and see why it was unhappy? They'll still be stored.

Or you can _guess_ and try sealing in the hope that's the issue...

I was wondering if some hood seal might have failed. I checked and everything seemed in order. I will get the codes cheked but I am alomost certain it will be something with the coils / although the engine works silky smooth and I havent noticed any anomalies /.

Also check the boot (trunk) - remove spare. Entire boot needs to be dry.

The windshield scuttle or cowl is not longer sealing against the windshield. Multiple threads on various fixes. You are correct in thinking COPS got wet. I would put full attention on correcting asap.

I myself removed the scuttle, applied two beads of caulking across windshield, reattached cowl. Bobs your Uncle!

The car sists in a garage 90 % of the time but still i will adress the issue. During the storm the Jag was parked on a slope. I was wondering if that might have contibuted to the "wet" problems. I will look around the forum for some solutions. Thanks for the info.

Simple check. Open hood/bonnet. Turn on a garden hose, let water drain down windshield/windscreen. Be careful not to have to much stream, but watch where water runs into engine compartment.

I will bet you will see it run onto the engine.

Definitely read the codes. On my 4.2 STR the knock sensor(s) will cause restricted performance if the car sits overnight in inclement weather. The RP goes away after the car is brought up to operating temperature. Pending codes can be read for this fault although not sure that they are stored once RP goes away.
