Good morning, when my restricted power came on it had something to do wit the fuel air mixture, however, this can be caused by alot of things. Dont want to lead you in the wrong direction, but good luck man.

i have exactly the same problem on my 2003 s-type sport....the jerking you talk about only happens at 3000 RPM, its as though the ECU is restricting the performance to under 3000...i am trying to find out how to reset my ECU just in case it is something that might clear..

To the OP and arrow, restricted performance is usually transmission related, and only sometimes engine. The best way to know which component to look at is to have the codes read by a mechanic or dealer. That will give you a more localized area to focus on. I wish you both luck. If you need further help, get the codes, and post up again in the forum. Others may have similar codes in the past and can help you determine if its a DIY solution or something only a qualified mechanic can resolve.

good news on my front anyway.....i hope it may be the same for you.....i had a friend hook the car up to his computer and it lead him to believe that it was a problem with the air flow sensor, however when we opened the bonnet and started the engine we could hear a distinct hissing sound... on further inspection we noticed a hole the size of my finger tip on a small 3 inch black pipe....a cutting of garden hose pipe later and the car is back to driving like it just left the showroom.....i am nearly sure i read a post somewhere else that sounded the exact same so maybe this is a common problem..

good luck

i had the same light come on in my 99 xj8, i replaced all the plugs and rebooted the computer with the dealerships help by disconnecting the battery and touching the positive and negative wires together and actually helped my window to start working again, but for the restricted performance i ended up having to replace my #6 ignition coil for $100. problem went away and been running awesome since.
