retro fit rear cupholders

Is it possible retrofit rear cup holders into a 2000 S-type? Is it just a direct replacement of the armrest from a newer model with this feature?

Hi Mep,

The rear cupholders for an S-Type are not in the armrest, but are slide out assemblies in the middle of the back seat base, at least on my 2005. I believe X-Type armrests have cupholders in them, but not sure if the two armrests are the same size. Hope this helps.

I can also confirm that the two rear cup holders are fitted in the rear seat base and consist of two cup holder plastic cassettes which slot into a housing built into the seat. I managed to purchase a 2004 interior to fit into my 2000 S type and the 2004 interior had this option but one cassette was broken.Cost me around Â£30 UKfrom my dealer.

The rear cupholders are crap, I wouldn't bother with the effort to fit them.

HI Mep,

I saw an S-Type with cupholders in the armrest the other day. It must have been a post-2005 model. You may want to get with your local Jag parts rep to see if you can order just an armrest. Replacement cupholder assemblies are around $130 or so.
