Default Retro fit S-Type sat nav

Hi guys and happy new year, i have a 1999 Stype 3.0 V6 SE without the sat nav. I have just purchased a retro one and was wondering whereabouts in the boot it actually fits? there appears to be a place marked for it do i just cut along the markings in the boot? do i need a cage for it to fit into ? also would the the wiring and plug be already to plug and play? am really quite confused and a novice any help would be much appreciated.
regards
Steve.

Steve,

I've moved your question from Off Topic to S-Type forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model ....... unless, of course you actually have an X-Type as your forum user name would suggest?

Hi Steve,

Welcome.

Why would you want to install such an antiquated system. Well out of date. Even the nav systems in the 03+ S Types are becoming useless, but are much more robust considering they also control radio, HVAC and have larger touch screens.

Well your lucky because you DON'T have the factory NAV!

Get rid of all that old junk and install a modern after market double DIN unit. There are dozens to choose from.

Navigation/backup cam/dash cam/Blue Tooth/ + whatever. They are modern and useful and much cheaper than stock.
