My Sensor just started acting up. When in reverse, the sensor gives me a tone for about 5 to ten seconds. The sensor is not sensing distance, just the long tone then nothing. It workrd fine yesterday.

 

Replied to your PM Irrizell. Listen for the sensors clicking while car is in reverse. Also, try doing hard reset (disconnect battery for 5 mintues). Your XJ8 though normally will be the module or a bad sensor.

 

I have a 2004 XJ8 and we had a lot of snow here in Northern VA this year. One night shortly after a hard snow fall I went to back out of my drive way and I got a constant sensor alert, I figured it was snow and ice over the sensor. Later (couple of days) when I backed up I don't get any alert. Is this common and how do I check it and fix it?

 

RedJag, lots of diagnostic information in the previous posts. Give that a shot first.

Find the bad sensor, or maybe its the module.
