Default S type 03 Window reverses

When trying to close drivers side window. I hold button down. Window will start up then reverse. I let go it will go up further then reverse again. It takes 4 or 5 pushes to get it closed. Any ideas?

Have you by chance replaced the window regulator? The windows have a anti pinch feature that will reverse the window when resistance is encountered. But if the regulator was changed the motor needs to be "clocked" to the approximate position. Then the window can adjust itself for the range of travel. Otherwise it will act like yours and if too far out of range it won't close all the way.

Before you go and strip it all down see here JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource the runners(some times called channels) are the parts the glass runs up, in this is where to try some silicone spray,

Hey clubairth1, I was gonna' chime in to explain why they were going back down in reverse, but you already covered it. But I learned something new from you apparently, if you ever replace a window regulator, they have to be "clocked" to the appropriate position? Wow, that's interesting. JbB
