Simple question.

Did your mechanic do anything to the car at all before trying to start it?

 

He did the basic tasks needed: powerplugs test, if electricity arrived at the fuel pump, etc. Then he tested if the fuel pump powered was able to run the car (it was).

Hi Karl, and thank you for your concerns.

In fact, it seems that you were right about the random behavior of the RECM.
In fact, in the (heated) garage, the tech was able to crank/run the motor. Then he placed the car outside for 2 days (still cold here, -10c or worse) and the problem came back again.
Because of the weather and the random problem (aka replacement) of the RECM, we agreed to delay the solution until spring arrives. I'll store the Jag in my garage (I have another car so no real problem) and we'll check back then and replace/repair the RECM in case the problem will be not obvious.

I also checked on ebay the price of those modules, not that expensive. And it depends also of my (maybe...) eventual purchase (other post here about another 2000 V6 3.0L 60000 kms). Because I don't want to take decisions in a hurry, I have more time to think on that.
If I can buy the other for a good price, I will for sure (mine is 150k and has some rust problems in the chassis) and give this one to somebody else.

About the obd2 connector and the related software to diagnose jag, do you have some useful links ?
