s type 3.0 auto brakes stuck on !!
i have an s type 3.0 auto and have been useing the car everyday, got in it today put it in reverse and pressed the electronic handbrake button and the car didn't move at all so put my foot on the accellorater to make it move and it was very stiff and the car moved but was very stiff to move .... now there was no warning lights on on the dashboard to say that there was a fault but the brake lights on the outside was on ... i got back in the car and put my foot under the brake pedal to lift it up and the car moved as normal so i am wondering if it is just something wrong with the pedal perhaps maybe a spring broke or could it be something more technical ?
Odollybird - Proper protocol would be to introduce yourself in the new members section. That link is below:

Not an expert with the EPB system - but from what I undertsand the EPB not disengaging is a common fault - please also mention the model year for your S Type as that would be helpful - Thanks...

Hi Emma- welcome
It shouldn't be necessary to touch the parking brake handle to apply or release the EPB during normal operation. It's done automatically, however it doesn't sound like yours is malfunctioning in this case.
Obviously, it shouldn't be necessary to lift the foot brake pedal either and it's not normal that the brakes lights stay on and the car drags with the pedal released. You might be right that it's a return spring that's given way or it might be something more complex with either the booster or master cylinder becoming jammed. I don't suggest driving the car until it's properly inspected and fixed.
Perhaps others have had similar problems and can give more precise help.
