Hi, I'm new here.

My father has some problems with his 01 S-type 3.0. The car idles rough and sometimes dies during a red light. I tried the car and the car does not pull hard at high rpm. He got a CEL and I pulled those codes:

P0171 Too lean Bank 1
P0174 Too lean Bank 2
P0301 Misfire cyl 1
P0420 Catalyst treshold
P1388 ???

I'd like to know where to start in order to get the car back to normal

Start with the forum's Search
on each of the codes
and read a few threads - especially any in the FAQs
and especially any for the early (pre-2003) 3.0 cars

Likely an air leak and likely the PCV hose / elbow

You'll also NEED to follow the new member stuff or you will be unable to see various things. Welcome, though

You may also need EGR Valve ,plug wires and ignition coil . Those aren't big deal
