2000 S type. I installed a newly purchased backup beeper today. When I bought the car it did not have a beeper installed.

The beeper is always on regardless of transmission position and it did not signal anything when I tried backing into a piece of freestanding cardboard.

It is now electrically disconnected.

Are there any simple solutions or do I have to troubleshoot the system?

This car has suffered water in the boot and it damaged the CATS module which lives alongside the backup parking module. I took out the parking module and found evidence of water intrusion on the circuit board. Green corrosion around the copper and a tad of rust. I have been trying to clean up the module but no success so far in getting the system to work. I have also been looking at videos on circuit board repair. But I can get a used one from Jaguar Heaven for $50US and that is probably what I will end up doing. Will cost me about a hundred Canadian after all is said and done. It would probably cost me as much to try and repair the module but I would like to give it a try anyways. Interesting puzzle.
