The Ebay coils are fine. Many people have used them. They should come with new boots, be sure and install them as well. You should also change the spark plugs at this time. You most likely will find oil on the coil boots. You will need to change the valve/cam cover gaskets. Its way easier to do this all at once otherwise you will get pissed off going in and changing things one or two at a time.

I really recommend getting the Jaguar JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information System) CD. I got one on EBay for only about $9 including shipping. It has everything plus you can print out diagrams and instructions. You will save a lot of money doing it yourself the CORRECT way!!!

I would. It's not that expensive and it will happen if it has not already happened. It's not really a big deal but it will cause miss-fires and crappy running as well as making your new coils fail and short to ground. Do you plan to keep the car or are you going to fix it and sell it?

If these is only a small amount of oil: putting a glob of dielectric grease on the inside of each coil boot (be sure it doesn't get on the connector) and all over the ceramic portion of the plug will keep moisture out and make the coil last a lot longer.

Good luck,
Eric

Eric has a very good point. Anytime you install a connection with a rubber boot on a spark plug use dielectric grease. You can get it at any parts store. Sometimes called "Bulb Grease".

I would NOT change just a few coils that are 9 years old. You'll just end up doing the job several times. Of course, if you love repeating work and wasting your time....

The tensioners and guides are not a simple DIY task.
