S-Type Post topics same old problems. Any exciting projects for 2015?
As some may know, I took a job in Montana and am moving away from Texas.
For the past 3 months and a few more to go, I have been separated from all my Jaguar cars and associated projects. Not much I can do in my temporary living situation but read the forum postings and dream about when I get settled and reunited with my car stuff. Bummer for me. I will have zero progress on any of my projects until at least late May time frame.
I have way too many un-finished projects put on hold for now. Makes me sad. It makes me even sadder because I haven't seen any new exciting projects started and posted in 2015 for our S-types.
- Avos has finished his new engine build and is waiting for good weather to fine tune his 600+ HP engine. Yet I haven't seen anyone else upgrading their STR engines with a KB supercharger.
- No new LSD rear end projects?
- No brake and suspension upgrade in the works?
- No tuning hacks, or transmission hacks?
- No body mods?
I guess we are all just driving our S-types and only keeping them running these days.
If you plan any upgrades to your car chime in! Otherwise It will reinforce the feeling that S-types have seen better days...

Don't laugh, but just keeping a S-Type in top shape is a project in itself. I will upgrade the lighting where feasible...but making up for a previous owner's neglect consumes time and $.
I would LOVE to update the "Premium Sound" head unit with something up to date, but no aftermarket harness, nor raw plugs exist. So, I might pull down a schematic diagram, and fetch a scrap head unit just for the connectors and make one...after addressing wear and tear items.
The S-Type has very little in the way of bolt-ons or accessories. Just changing the transmission fluid properly looks like a project...just to maintain! Just an observation on most luxury models.
These models are pretty much top of the line with all of the bells and whistles, so there's no opportunity to upgrade seats, intake, or any other items, like GM or Ford. My 2002 LOOKS like a newer model, just by condition. Maybe scoring a set of XF wheels with better tires, YES.
Any ideas on a mod to get better than 16 MPG? That's only 2 MPG better than a 1998 Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck!

Anyone else wanting to do a KB TS is probably waiting for avos, not least because some PCM reflash or the like may be (is?) needed. Besides, why reinvent something that's tough to do and only wanted by a few people?
I think avos is about ready to ship a TS kit for these cars, just contact at him, as the latest info in his FS thread suggests it's already running and tested on 3-4 cars...
I'm excited to be one of the first to do it, but it's realistically a $10,000+ project, I've got two other cars that are getting attention this year, if I keep the STR into 2016, I'll definitely be going TS by then!

Otherwise...
I have some body damage along the bottom of the right front door, going to buy a new door and paint it to correct that.. Trans fluid and filter job... and... maybe dyno it again to see what the cat delete gained..
I want to pull the front bilsteins at some point, and see if I can cut the spring perch off them nicely, and slip on a threaded-sleeve (ground-control coil-over) over the body... The idea being get some ride-height adjust-ability going, and lower the front of the STR a bit further...
That's about it, the car is pretty complete to me now, an LSD and TS upgrade is a huge pile of cash to dump on an aging quickly STR... trading it for a XFR or XKR would be the wiser choice for me at least...
