Hello all...I was coming home and notice the check engine light was on....everything was running fine rest of the gages were indicating fine. It is a 2005 S Type R and is coming up on 50K on the odometer. Is there a way to figuring out what is causing the light to come on. I know usually when it comes on it can usually be a number of things. Any help ?

 

Best thing to do is get the codes read. Go to Discount/Autozone/Orielys and let us know the outcome.

 

ok went to autozone...they said it was low emissions leak.....told me possible egr sensor or gas cap....does that sound right ??? car is still running fine and no other signs of running wrong... I bought some techron put in with new gas...so what else is there other than taking it shop to get egr sensor replaced ???

 

What were the actual codes? Forget that techron stuff or egr till you have the codes and look them up in jag's own doc that's on here for free.

 

Get the actual number as JagV8 said. Without that it's all guess work!

Also have them clear the codes. If they come back they are real. If not don't worry about it.
