So i want to share with you my problem this is my video. Noise at 3-4 sec. Then when i'm accelerating on between 2500-3000 the noise hears again. Maybe someone know what happens with my Jag

Fistly welcome to the forum.

When you settle a tad, please do a proper intro in the "New members area"

What year model is your car??????.

I am hearing the engine running first up, then that odd noise, which sounds like the a/c compressor is cutting in, and it is in a sad state, so makes that racket.

That is a GUESS only as I am unsure of what else is running when the noise occurs.

If that video were any shorter, it would stop before it started.

OK.

Lets humour the old guy just a tad, thats me.

The engine is running at idle?, got that I think.

Then this odd sound.

Soooooo, was the a/c switched ON inside the car, and if so, does the sound correspond to the compressor cutting in/out??.

Is the serpentine belt past its use by date. They are a service item and are called for replacement at about 100K kms. These 6PK belts can make some wierd noises.

If its not a/c related, I need either a bit longer video, and/or some specific info from you as to what was happening, other than the engine was running and it made this sound. Engines like these V6's simply dont do that.

Also try with a/c fully off and does it still do it?

I gather it's 1999 car.

hi my 2001 3.0l x type makes the same noise, we isolated it to the rear head first set of valves (timing chain side) and its only done 79000 miles from new, the previous owner developed the noise which is why i only paid 500 for it, that because she had it serviced every so many months not mileage. What im thinking of doing is getting a second hand head and new gasket set and changing unless someone has a better solution

Like I guessed, the engine has seen better days. By "inserts" are we talking about valve guides?

I thought it sounded like a wrist pin or a crank shaft bearing. In the old days you would put the car in gear and accelerate slightly with the brake on and if you had the knocking it was a wrist pin or start the car after an oil change and hear a hard knock it was a crank shaft bearing. Today they use a stethoscope. Did you run the car low on oil or use the wrong type oil?

I'm own this car only for 2 month. When oil was changed, it was dark almost night. Now inside 5w30 Valvoline.

Does it really matter? Oil that dark and filthy has probably plugged up all of the major passages anyway.
