Setting the timing on a 4.0 s type

Which dirrection should Timing marks position on a 4.0 S Type . if any pic or diagrams will be appreciated. Thanks

Iisn't the info in JTIS or the various online data sources (GTR, Alldata, Mitchell, ...)?

What have you been using up to now?

in the process of taking apart. just in case timing chain jumped a tooth. timing chain tensioner broke.

Womenlover, the JTIS doesn't say anything about how to set the timing, but if it is like my Ford 5.4L motor, if you look on the timing chain, you will find 2 links that are different colors than the rest (mine had 2 dark links). If you look on the VVT gear and the crankshaft gear, you will find some sort of mark on them (in my case, the crankshaft gear had a dot on it and the VVT gear had a raised dash on it). You line up the darker links to these two spots and you should be good. As for the small chain that runs between the VVT and the exhaust camshaft, can't help you there. I would say to take your time disassembling and see if you can spot any sort of match marks and note what they look like.

Hopefully this gets you atleast close to what you need to.
