Default Should of went Jag in the first place.....

Alright so I test drove a beautiful 2007 Navy Blue STR and loved it. Just 2 weeks before I'm ready to purchase, it gets sold and the other STR at the dealership had more miles than I wanted. So the next available car on my list was the Acura TL Type S. I went with the 6MT and love it. You feel so much more of the cars power with the 6speed than the 5AT. Anyways I'm starting to regret jumping into the TL because I'm starting to wish I looked for more STR's before I made my purchase. So now I'm really thinking about trading it in for an STR. I paid $23K for my 2007 TL and it has 45K miles. Im hoping to see 21K minimum trade in value cause a good condition version of my car has a 23K KBB trade in value. So when it comes to the STR I'd prefer 05 and newer and no more than 45Kmiles and priced no more than $27K. Do you guys think that I can find one with that kinda mileage for under $27K or am I looking at $30K and up cause I really don't want to put a ton of more money ontop of my trade. I know its been a long post but thanks for reading

I have a 2002 TL-Type S...still runs like crazy and it has 170,000 miles on it. My wife drives it everyday. On the otherhand I have a 98 XK-8 that I drive. If you have a wife then keep the Acura and get yourself a Jag....if you don't have a wife and only need one car, then the Acura will get you there everyday, but only the Jag will get you the glances.

Im 18 and don't have a wife yet lol...... maybe in the next year or two haha. But anyways I know Acura/Honda are very reliable cars and my Type S is more of a kids car "compared to any Jag in my opinion" I just love the original styling that is unique only to Jaguar. Im coming from a Corolla XRS so even the Acura is a luxury car in my opinion

27K is doable if you look around long enough

At first I wanted a manual trans more than anything but I considered the STR anyways because I love its style and acceleration. My 6speed TL-S is great but i'm really feeling for a STR or XJR

Redxr, don't be too afraid of picking up a higher mileage (70k+) lower cost (12-15k), STR. When properly serviced these cars will run along time with little if no loss of performance. I purchased my 03 STR for $11,900 w/89k as a daily driver (85 miles round trip). Clean CarFax with service intervals, mint in and out, no oil burn, starts and runs quiet, shifts smoothly...but will kick the living daylights out of most anything thrown against her in the 60-155 mph range. Post purchase Jag checked her out and gave all thumbs up comments on her show and running condition for an 89k car. She now exhales out of a custom exhaust to be blown clean by her soon to be ported and polished, smaller pulley super charger, and low temp. thermostat, followed by an ECU dyno/tune (est. 75 hp, 90 lb/ft trq. gain). Good luck on your search for a low mileage higher cost STR. You may find a higher mileage well taken care of STR that'll raise your eyebrows....

I've looked into cheaper, higher mileage STR's and have seen a couple of nice ones under 100Kmiles but I really want the piece of mind and assurance of the CPO warranty. I've had problems more than once with cars just out of warranty and with no warranty at all. And ofcourse with the high service costs of maintaining a Jaguar I'd hate to not be covered if something goes wrong with the car

Yes, you can find a reasonably priced STR for the same amount that TL is worth.

Find an 05-06 STR w/ @ 40k miles on it for around 20-22k. Very doable. Your only problem is the trade in value, you will not get ANYTHING close to KBB, typically. They use NADA most of the time, and it tells them what the vehicles are going for at auction. This lets them know what they can reasonably expect to get at auction if they are not going to retail it on their lot. Its ALL about what they are going for at auction. Search Cars.com, email some places, and see if they would be willing to do a straight up trade. Most places dont like doing that however.

Your best bet is to sell private party. Good luck.

Most STR's under the 100k range having a clean bill of health are worth their respective dough. Git a STR already!

I like the TLs but if you have an itch for an S-Type R, a FWD 6 cylinder car will not satisfy you.
Sounds like you got a good price on the Acrua. Try selling private party, maybe you can break even and move on.

I fall in behind bfsgross - My 2003 STR had 68k miles for $12.5k. I found it in TX and brought it to CA.

It's a daily driver (90 mile round trip), looks great, performs wonderfully and left me with cash to make a few upgrades.

Yea I wanted a flashy newer STR but for the money and sheer fun the 2003 has returned, it's a winner.

Way to go Mafioso and RobgarrnerBlack! The STR is a well built machine. In my opinion the best used value as a sleeper/beast. New: $65k, used w/50-90k= 12-15 grand. I will have work done to mine that will likely cause her to produce near 500 crank hp and trq. all within an average Joe's budget. We'de have to pay out of our noses for this kind of performance if not for a car the likes of the STR.

SimpsonTide, a TCM (Transmission Control Module) reflash is a procedure performed by a Jaguar tech. It draws out old program and adaptive driving techniques as a means to replace with updated TCM program and a fresh start in teaching adaptive driving program your driving preferences.

Is the adaptive driving program something integrated with the cruise control or something? I've never heard of such a thing (I'm a total, n00b, sorry!)

Some searches will find old threads which will explain it. Try each/any of
adaption
lurch
reflash
transmission
6HP26
(the first is a deliberate bad spelling)
