I used the jag magic juice too. It works like...magic.
It sounded like the noise was right at the stearing wheel.
Hard to believe the squeak can travel all the way from the rack to the interior of the car but it does. I wish every jag fix came in a $10 can.

Default Lincoln V's Jag Additive

Does anyone know if the two additives are compatible? ie can I use the Ford one in the Jag, means the difference between a 5 minute ride or 90 minute ride.

Thanks

Jag's magic juice worked for me, I had the same squeak. It sounds like it's coming from the column so I was skeptical about using the additive at first, but it worked.

davo0705;
I have a big suspicion that they are the same. After all the rack is the same. BUT the price is pretty cheap and really- How lucky do you feel today???
The additive from Jaguar is only about $12-$15 which is very cheap.

The local Jag dealer quoted me $11.88 for the additive, but its the accessability thats an issue, 5 minute drive to the Ford dealership, probably 3 hour round trip to the Jag dealership...

Won't they mail it to you? The local dealership here will send parts.

What is the exact name of this stuff? Or a part number? I want to order some.

*edit* Nevermind I see it in the TSB. Did all of you monitor the temperature that closely?

I just fished some ATF out and put the additive in. I find the PAS gets hot every now and then in use so just did nothing else. Squeak went away soon enough

I reckon the TSB way is so that the dealer can return a car fixed then and there, whereas I wasn't in such a rush.

All depends how big a hurry you are in to be rid of the squeak. Just pop it in and run normal ops if you want it to just fade away one fine day.

Think JagV8 exactly right on the dealer....little consolation if you got to retrieve your car from a service and they assure you, "Oh it still does it now, sure...but this too shall pass...uh, uhmmm...that'll be $125 service charge, btw"

Lol, the missing "t" found in my post: "...got to..." intended as "...go to..."

First I would like to thank those that contributed to this and similar threads. I went to the Jaguar dealer to purchase the additive. The current price is $19+ so over $20 with tax for 50ml bottle which they had none in stock? On the way home I passed the Ford dealer so I stopped in and purchased the additive mentioned for $7.50 in stock. It comes in a larger bottle so you can do 2 cars or save if you drain and refill later. This friction additive is used in positraction rear ends to stop chatter when turning. It's been in a couple of weeks and QUIET!

Well thanks for reporting back. We have not heard from anyone who used the Lincoln juice in the S Type before.
Glad it worked!

I got the special PAS additive months ago from a Jaguar dealer (about $12) but I can't see how to remove some of the fluid in the tank to be able to add in the 50 mL of special stuff. On every other car I've owned, when you take the cap of the power steering fluid tank, either there's nothing in the way or there's an easily removable screen. With the Jag, there's plastic in the way at the opening that I can see how to remove. How do you even fit a turkey baster in there to suck out some of the PAS fluid?

FWIW, it apparently has the capacity to wear off....and a second application also works:

I think there is a screen of some sort but it's a long time since I added the additive. I probably removed some with a syringe, but you could use plastic tubing and suck carefully.

Mine had a plastic screen and I used a tiny screw driver to help pull little tab up that is in slot. ( look close ) Then I used a Macdonald's plastic straw, push to bottom of tank and put finger over top to hold oil and put in container that held 50 ml. It took 5 or 6 times then throw straw away. Put screen back in and fill to line with additive.

The P/S reservoir has a plastic screen shaped like a funnel. Use a flash light and look down into the reservoir. There are two small tabs that you depress while pulling up on the plastic screen. It's abit tricky but it comes right out.

I then use a turkey baster to vac all the fluid I can out. Then I use a rag and wipe what I can of the inside of the reservoir. Mine had some small deposits on the inside.
