Yep, real estate in Jackson Hole is priced into the stratosphere now. I should have purchased some property there 25 years ago when we used to ski the area for a couple of weeks each February and Jackson Hole was still a backcountry cowtown. In the past decade, the Hollywood elite has discovered the area, built palaces there, and forced many locals out of the market. I wouldn't want to pay the price to live there today even though I still love the Grand Tetons....

No sign of any such indicator on the dash. I used ETM to get all the lamps on - many of them don't self-test at ignition on.

It's now me that's the snowflake, wow it's cold!

How cold is it over there... It's been around -6C during the day with LOTS of lake effect snow... My 35 minute drive to work was 2 hours today..

Quick question... Is your 04 the older body or the refreshed body?

Very similar temp. It's the older (so I have fogs). I didn't care which body I got (or whether it had fogs, or the slightly changed dials etc) and it happened to be the best car I could buy at the time on my budget. I nearly bought a UV blue which happened to be a facelift but it was too gloomy for me as it had black leather (was hopelessly overpriced but I would've worked on that).

OK, now I know what to read... (honestly I want to see if there is actually a difference between markets; etc...)

I hear you on your choice...I actually like the rear of the older car better, more distinctive. Mine looks like a US Ford Taurus from the back...

2005 Jaguar

2005 Mercury Sable

2006 Ford Taurus.

It's an STR so just body coloured trim.

I half-expected the snowflake might be dealer-settable (in the "VID" block).

You guys really need a little icon to tell you when it's cold out?

haha, no but there's a real interest (er, among hardly any people quite possibly) as to what's fitted when and for which market.

My 05 STR has the snowflake and has been on for several days now. I hate when its on cause it reminds me just how cold it is. Comes on colder then 39F. I thought it was a European car thing my old Audi had a snowflake also but a lot more suttle then looking like a check engine light lit up on the dash. I wish they would of made it part of the little digital displays like above the clock since there is nothing above it but the other side has MPG, miles till empty, etc.

I'm wondering if the snowflake arrived with the revised cluster in 2005 (2004.5MY here).

My '05 Escalade displays a snowflake in the Climate Control Display.

My 2005 starts "flaking out" @ 41 degrees which is way too early so I ignore it. But I'm not planning on driving the car once the snow & salt hit here anyway. Surprisingly we have zip so far, just cold weather. My suburban has it on the rear view mirror along with the compass/temp and that's a good spot for it.

Interesting- this matches my experience in Europe as mentioned above. The appearance of the snowflake rarely matched the conditions outside so by and large it was deemed 'unreliable' and ignored.

Knowing our love for frivolous lawsuits here, I'm surprised that no one has yet launched one for either a false positive or for the light not coming to tell them 'it might be slippery'.

I think they might be worried about not warning you soon enough. But it ends up being a bit like the boy who cried wolf too much. How about we're just supposed to keep our wits about us?

The snow flake is on many cars for all over the world. My 2003 Lincoln LS has it.

Wow, that's actually funny... Because I started reading through the Jag owners manuals this morning on Jag's GTR site. My 05 manual lists the "flake" but not on an 03 North America S Type... Still need to read the European manuals, 03 and 04...But I doubt they have it either... Yet it's cousin the LS does.... I love this trivial stuff....

I know, I'm sick.....

Ahhh, so they fitted it for USA (the LS) before here. Yeah, no-one would sue here for lack of a snowflake (it's always cold here - even in summer).

What's that saying: 6 months of cold and wet
and then comes winter

England has two seasons: rain and snow.

Ah - you've visited!

("Slightly" undermined in that New England was named for good reasons.)
