Default Solar Battery Charger

Winter is around the corner and I do not have a garage and wanted to keep my car batteries fully charged now that the cars are not used every day. After much searching I found this Solar Panel at Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/15-watt...ger-44768.html The price was right and the specifications 1.5watts seemed just what I needed. This is how I installed it in my cars http://jagrepair.com/SolarBatteryCharger.htm

I use one on my truck saince I don't drive it much anymore. I'm either on my bike or in the Cat. I've got a few extra things wired into the truck and a few years ago even the Red Top would lose some charge after it sat in the winter for more then two weeks. This little solar charger seemed to have fixed that issue. However I disconect it everytime I start the truck. I've read somewhare that if you don't you could overload some circet in the charger???

The solar panel has a plug about 8in from the panel and can be unplugged if you wish. I have not done that.
