Just installed new 4300k D2S bulbs:
from a couple sources, the general lifespan is 2500-3000 hrs or so... which equates to around 75000-85000 miles, or 5-6 yrs for the average driver. Of course things can shorten/lengthen that, the most significant would be if you actually use DRL's or not.

Well after a bit of research I have no real answer but I did find the HID's have a 2500 hour life compared to 400 hours for Halogen. So unless I use my HID's a good bit I think I have a few years left!!

According to the service manual, the HID bulbs last the life of the car. This of course seems a debatable comment, but that's what Jag claim.
Curious to see how long it took you phd12volt to change. As I have just gone through the process of changing the 'ballast resistor module' attached to the light assembly. 1 hour to remove bumper. And as it was a reco module, of course its faulty (bought on fleabay) and I have to go through the process again. Seller is apologetic and sending another reco!
