Default solar sensor

hello all

my first help question is: Has anyone had the solar sensor in the dash fall down and if so were you able to get it back in place without taking the dash out? thanks in advance...I will add photos of my car soon

It looks like you will need to remove the A pillar trim panels and then the defrost vent trim panel.
There are some adhesive insulators (double sided adhesive foam rubber??) that should be cleaned off and replaced or it will rattle. But you may get away without.

The remove and replace instructions are on page 2702 of the Jaguar workshop manual.

If it's not cracked already it probably will when you move it.

thanks a lot...I have a 4000 page + digital manual...very thorough...I will check out those pages again

As mentioned by Norri the chances are the mounting studs on the plastic vent panel are probably broken and this is why the sensor has dropped. The removal process assumes the plastic vent panel is in as new condition however, with the passage of time the plastic will become brittle and may well snap as you try and take it apart.

Hehe...I was gonna suggest, "Just delay renewing the solar sensor a few months and you'll likely have "cracks" (let's face it, they are breaks - clean through) on either side and you can just lift out the middle piece and renew the sensor."
