Default Sound like a bad trunk latch?

Last couple weeks I noticed that the trunk kept getting stuck and i would have to use force to pull it open, especially when it got cold outside. The truck will release and open quickly if it is opened within a couple of minutes, but if it sits for a few hours or more it will need force to open. I tried using some wd 40 in the latch and some white grease on the seal but it did not seem to help. I also noticed that it seems when I press the trunk button at times the actulator seems like it gets stuck on the click and then releases after a few seconds.... Would appreciate anyone's help on this! thank you.

I used some kind of product (the name escapes me right now) that is made for rubber seals, but it did no good. I tried that several times. When I used white grease on the latch and the post it latches to and it worked perfectly, now it pops open right away whether I use the key or the dash button.

Your problem might be something else, however. Do you get the same reaction (or lack thereof) with the key fob as well as the dash button?

hello, it does it all the time. I went on ahead and purchased it from jaguar it was only 65 bucks, so I figured for it's age I would just replace it anyways and see what happeneds from there.

I treat all my rubber weatherstipping with Syl-Glide that I get from NAPA.
Keeps the rubber from sticking. The rubber stays in better condition too.
