Default sport mode problem

When I have sport mode engaged and slam on the gas from say 10 mph, the rpms go up and keep going into redline the red warning light comes on by the speedo and I let off gas. Why is this? And with sport mode off it seems to shift better and a little more tourqy.

There's a fault.

Problem now is to figure what's wrong...

Sport mode makes them wait until later in the rev-range to shift, closer to peak power. In "normal" mode the shift takes place lower in the revs, closer to peak torque. It would feel a little different, and that's OK - that's the idea. Seems to me there might be some sort of fault in the transmission controller, but it's hard to say. You should get the car plugged in, the codes read, and some diags run.

Could be trans (TCM) but not likely. Something upsetting PCM, far more likely. That's the one the cheap tools can read, so go to it

The same action in my car will take my Tachometer to 6100rpm to shift and 70 something miles per hour, then the shift to 2nd gear, which runs back up to 6100rpm etc etc. In this mode, I can spin the tires in all 3 of the first gears. I think your ECU needs to be relfashed as your programming may be off.

I don't think so. Error (red) light means a fault. Reflashing is not a fix for a fault like that.

the red light just blinks like three times then never seen again. Only at the redline level of RPMS it flashes, it's just something in the computer is shifting just a tad later than in should i think, eg maybe software, Just had it plugged in at JAG 2 days ago zero codes or faults and it was doing it then to . so.... ??

Please clarify, does rev up and it bounce off the rpm limiter and not engage the next gear without letting off?

Or does it rev up to redline and then shift into the next gear?

The 'redline' on the tach is spread across an rpm range, can you be more specific what rpm you're getting shifting at?

Blinking = catalyst-damaging misfires occurring. Bad coils almost for sure.

Yeah, peak power on them is at 6,100, IIRC. Peak torque is down close to 4,000. "Normal" mode shifts very softly by comparison, not usually even running up to peak torque - it depends largely on how much "boot" you give it.

ok here's video, now what happened before this video, I gunned it in sport mode red light flashed again this time i happened to look at message center and it said "HOOD OPEN", so i stopped slammed hood, i think it was closed good before? and light didn't come on again. Sorry about the phone dropping in video but I just wanted you to pay attention to the end of the rev which it does show. Still goes pretty far into redline i think, it does shift though. Thanks JOSH

so i think that's what it may have said all along, maybe a loose hood latch or something, i was relieved when i saw hood open.
